Won't you come out to play ?

He's gotten the fair amount of stick over the years, and now he's dead. Here's a nice article in nyt on the Marahisi, who died this week. The Beatles second time meeting him was over the time Brian Epstein (the Beats manager) died. He told them not to be sad, but instead they should send good thoughts to wherever he was.

As this article more or less summerizes, the indian break was great for the Beatles. It got them away from the craziness of the drugs (a few glasses of wine is all they had). It got them away from all the press. And they could just concentrate on music- The White Album was released with all the shit they wrote in India. Great LP.

While I'm the subject of the Beatles ; what about Yoko. She was also entering the scence @ this time and recieved an even greater amount of stick than the Marahashi. Now- was she the reason the Beatles broke up ??

I have mixd feelings. I do believe that she was pretty manipulative, esp. seeing how fogged out John had become. There are many reasons to suspect that she went after John to further her career. But, also, she really did slow down John's death spiral. Don't get me wrong- the herion came w/ her into John's life - but overall, if she didn't come along when she did, it'd be John Winehouse or John Spears or John Ledger. well, tell you the truth, John actually WAS that bad back then. I swear to God, I really quiver when I think about the stunning amount of LSD that poor guy took in his life.

Anyway- wherever you are, Marahishi - here's some good thoughts for you. Bless you.
