My family got double giant great news yesterday.
Nephew #2 has made the varsity volleyball team @ his h.s. Making the varsity means being one of the top 13 players @ the school. Needless to say, this is a giant achievement. Bad uncle, I've never seen him play volleyball even once. However, to be fair, I've coached him on three different soccer teams over the years, and seen tremendous amounts of other teams, mainly soccer, that he has played on. he gave up hs soccer after his first year, which........well, it wouldv'e been fun, but he knows whats best for him. Kids have way too loaded a schedule these days.
Less suprisingly, Neice #3 made her freshman soccer team. It's not hard to make the freshman team - her time of trial comes in the junior year in trying to make the varsity squad. (That's why the estatic reaction for Nephew #2's achievement). However, hers is a famous last name @ this hs because Neice #1 was a captain of the team and star for all four years. No way they would cut that name. Neice #3 isn't the biggest fan of soccer, but : either she didn't want to dissapoint us, she likes being part of the team, or maybe she does like it better than we think- but were glad she's in.
Neice #2 went to the same school, and was cut from the team after not making the volleyball or basketball team. Now this day, when it came out that she was cut, was a terrible day for us- we were so sad beacuse we knew she wanted it. What a terrible day that was. Things were so gloomy around he house/family then, we felt so bad for her. I coached her on three different soccer teams back in the day and was really trying to prep her for tryouts. She survived, and will be a university freshman in 5m. Glory be to her.
