Two books am I reading now: One is Burleigh's The Third Reich : New History. I'm too cheap to buy just about anybook new, but this was a newly bought book w/ a gift card from sister.4 The beginnings of the Third Reich has been drastically overwritten, but I'm no super expert on it. Yes, I know more than most, and since I'm a materialist, I really feel I do know more than most: but really I'm a punter.
Burleigh came heavily recommended, so I figgered it'd be a good time to jump back into Nazi history. It's very good. I found it strange to read...usually I read books from the left that are critical of the rite, but this book is somewhere in their middle= anti Nazi, but constantly calling the Communists, Christians, and Socialists idiots for the way they acted.
It's a pretty scholarly book, so there's lots of research quoted. However, it's never too scholarly. He is clear in pointing out that this book is not to be seen as new scholarship, but rather a synthesis of research done before. I'm only 200p in (750p total) and w/ my slow rate of read, I wont finish till late December 2007, but I like.

My other reading is a totally left take on Rome. Since Vito turned me onto the HBO miniseries Rome last year, I wanted to read on it left style, so I could really know what went on. English empire, American empire= literally I'm a Master of it- Rome? Punter. 200p in, and it's a great read.
Gf got this into her lib. yesterday (I'd ordered it from Harold Wash.), so I'm just a few pages in, but I like. Parenti's a god, and I also highly recommend Democracy for the Few, his poly science almost-text book that was recommendecd by a poly science prof 15ya. It's updated every few years, and its the left take on the whole setup in America- gvt, banking, media, etc.... It's an easy primer for those in the know, but it's great for those who do not know. Like the nazi's, I'll prob be done in forever (Just kidding- this book is only 200p long).

Ich mochte das Buch. Es nicht völlig begriff meine Wirtschaftspläne, und ich glaube Festlichkeiten ich zu rauh als militärischer Kommandant; aber ich würde es total empfehlen.
I think the world you are looking for is "piker" not "punter." My understanding is that a "punter" is a bloke or geezer who fancies gambling. A "piker" is sort of an uncultured tramp which you are of course not. But if you ever start using cockney ryhming slang I will join the great boycott of this blog.
Piker it is. I knew that it wasn't punter, but I always used it anyway.
Ho gradito il libro. completamente non capito i miei programmi economici e credo che sia stato troppo con severità come comandante militare; ma lo suggerirei completamente.
Is "Caesar" really that Galloist "Vito" ?
Hey- who is "Adolph Hitler" ? He died in 1945. This Blog lies..........
