i grew up in the 70's (and the 60's and the 80's and a fair amount of the 90's, though not the 00's, im happy to say....), and i grew up heavily influenced by my 4 sis. they listened to lotsa pop, so i have a very very very healthy ear for populicious sounds.......................im also a punk rocker, so i can say "screw you, i listen to what i want !!!" while listening to loud oi oi oi oi..............anyway, im feeling defensive by saying i really like that one romantics "what i like about you"........................they also have another greta rocker, "rock you up", which i have on record but must transfer to cd.....................i mean buy the cd............both have a fantastic beat and i can danse to them, 'though w.i.l.a. you" would work better @ a party of regular joes while r.uy.u' would be much better @ a hipster party since they mite not know the song and therefore it would be "kool to danse to".....................................while we are on the subject, one of my absolute favourite party stories
(AND I GOT A LOT !)
is the famous halloween party that Dragon and i went to where Crankface (ah !! there's that name= ive been waiting!!) and Big Bang Bass Player were @. It was, um, 2000, im sure (?)..but the deal was it was some hipster house rotten wit dem hip sticks, and they had a d.j. playing good stuff, but no danse floor.....now, these, just great girls, dressed like the spice girls, were trying to get the nonono saying boys to play this one spice song, but they said "no!" again and again......................................but they finally were worn down (who the clock colud say no to the spice girls, and esp THESE spice girls on THIS nite ??? No one could !) So they put on the spice song, it was 'spice up yr life ' (not a greta song , but) , and they did this 40 second skit/danse to it, while everyone crowded around to watch. @ the end of the skit, they girls bust out into the enclosing circle, grabbed a boy (I WAS ONE OF FIVE- i will take this in my heart to my grave, unless im buried @ sea, where the anemoies can eat it out of my rotting body= tambien) and started the whole party dansing......................so, its kool to be kool, but not always............................my phrase that i love is "Womans gotta have it", which mite not be bestly translated from the Cornershop, but we can have our own intepretations in art, n'est pas ?
speaking of cornershop, i'll always remember the endless amount of time i list to their records in SF..................another time...................
